Ellen is known in publishing for her ability to launch and run high-quality publications and web sites – she launched four award-winning publications (CIO Insight, HomePC, Managed Healthcare News and VARBusiness), three online sites (cioinsight.com, miaviata.com, homepc.com) and is the co-author of Fast Forward, a book about the impact of the Internet published in 2000 by William Morrow. Through her publishing experiences at Institutional Investor, CMP Media, Miavita.com and Ziff Davis Media, Ellen gained expertise in finance, business technology, consumer technology, the Internet and health and wellness. Over the last twenty-five years, her publications have won scores of prestigious editorial and design awards and in September 2005, Ellen received the distinguished Albert Einstein Award for achievements in the high-tech industry. Moreover, she was inducted into the YWCA’s Academy of Women Achievers in November 1997 and was named to Marketing Computers’ list of Most Influential Computer Journalists in the Consumer category in 1996.
Ellen has served on several boards and advisory committees, including the following activities: board member for Cybergrrl, a site dedicated to transforming women’s lives through technology; advisor for IBM’s consumer group; strategic advisor to the Billion Minds Foundation, a worldwide non-profit organization dedicated to furthering global knowledge and innovation; chairwoman of the business advisory council of World Pulse, a social media enterprise covering global issues through women’s eyes; and member of the advisory board of Care2.com, the largest online network for people who want to make a difference.
Ellen is currently a consultant and contributor to CIOZone.com, a social networking site for information technology executives, and moderates a forum for Women in IT at CIOZone. Prior to that she was Vice President and Editor in Chief of CIO Insight, a Ziff Davis Media publication.
